In accordance with standard law persons under the age of 18 cannot participate in auctions as they are probibited in the United States from entering into legally binding contracts. An auction bid is a legally binding contract. Our verification process ensures the person has gone through the necessary actions to become a verified Magic Castle Auctions member. This process ensures the user's authenticity and eliminates fraudulent bidders. Sellers can enable their auctions to accept bids from verified members only if they so choose. We have added this feature to help ensure a safe service to our buyers and sellers and prevent any and all types of fraud.
- Buyers and Sellers do not have to be verified on Magic Castle Auctions in order to buy and sell. All Academy of Magical Arts Members are automatically Verified Sellers on Magic Castle Auctions, another member benefit of becoming an AMA member!
- Sellers have an option of disallowing Un-Verified buyers from bidding on their auctions.
When you are successfully verified, you will receive an ID Verify icon that is shown in your auctions and in your feedback profile.
- On Magic Castle Auctions, people are putting up cash and property against the faith and integrity of other users so it is imperitive that we do what we can to insure the integrity of our users. We believe that the high caliber and accountability of our sellers is worth the trouble of verification. And our sellers feel the same about verified buyers.
Magic Castle Auctions is unable to guarantee that a user is who they may claim to be. If you are uncertain as to another users identity, we suggest that you contact them. You may also review any members feedback profile to see what others have said about dealing with them. You must first be a registered member and set up your payment method.
Once you have registered, log into your account and from within the Members Area, click on the "Manage Account" tab. Scroll down to the bottom and under "Direct Payment Methods", enter your PayPal email address and click "Save Changes." If you have any questions about the PayPal Address Override option, please refer to our FAQ files for a complete explanation.
Now you are ready to sell your items. Click on the "Sell" link. The first thing to do is select a general category for your item, note that you can choose a more specific sub-category further into the listing process. You can then specify additional auction selling options and item description.
You then select the payment options you will accept. You have the option to use Offline credit cards, but it will be up to you to run these through your own merchant credit card processor. You can keep an eye on everything you are selling by visiting your members area and selecting the "selling" page. Yes you can, however we recomend you use basic tags as complex HTML descriptions may not display correctly. To place a bid on an item you must first login to your account. Once logged in a bidding box will be displayed at bottom of all auction pages. You can use this box to place a bid. You can keep an eye on everything you are bidding on by visiting your members area and selecting the "bidding" page. Our auction system will automatically notify you via email if you are outbid. When listing the "Buy Now" price needs to be set exactly equal to the auction start price. This will in affect create a "Buy Now" only item and remove any bidding options from the auction. There are two PayPal options that you can use. One is for buyers and one is for sellers:
1) Paypal Address Override: This is for buyers. This section is where you enter all your contact information as it appears in your Paypal account to activate Paypal's "Buyer Protection Program" when submitting payments through our auction site. If you do not use Address Override, any stored information in your auction site contact profile will overwrite the information stored in your PayPal account for that transaction only. This would invalidate your eligibility for PayPal's "Buyer Protection Program" for that item only. You are not required to enter your PayPal username or password to use this feature.
Make sure you click the update button at the bottom of the page once you complete the form.
2) Direct Payment Settings: This is for sellers to enter their Paypal email address so they can accept direct payments through our auction site. Make sure you click the update button at the bottom of the page once you have entered your email address. To enable buyers to pay you directly using the PayPal Direct Payment opion, click on the "My Account" tab in the members' area and then click the "Manage Account" sub-tab. Scroll down to the direct payment settings, enter your PayPal email address and then click the "Update" button at the bottom of the page. When you list auctions you can select the "PayPal" option for direct payment settings.
Your buyers will now be able to pay you directly through the "PayPal pay-now" button in your auction.
You must be have a PayPal e-mail address added into your members' record before listing items and you must select "PayPal Direct Pay" for each of your auctions or this will not work.
Magic Castle Auctions wants to ensure that we offer buyers industry-accepted and convenient payment choices.
We strongly encourage sellers to offer payments - credit card or bank-payment - through PayPal. PayPal is convenient to use and offers buyers and sellers industry-leading protection against fraud, charge backs and theft of financial data. Also, buyers need not have a PayPal account to participate, and, until used, it is free to the seller (no sign-up or monthly fees).
Merchants with their own merchant credit card processing account, and those who use a third-party credit card processor, may also offer their buyers the option of paying directly with a credit card online (including through third party checkout) or by phone.
Offline payment methods generally do not offer the same level of protection or convenience as online payments. Nonetheless, they may be appropriate for certain types of transactions and sellers may use listings to offer acceptance of most valid financial instruments including personal checks, cashier’s checks, money orders or COD.
Sellers may not solicit buyers to mail cash. Sellers may not ask buyers to send cash through instant cash transfer services (non-bank, point-to-point cash transfers) such as Western Union or Moneygram. Sellers may not solicit payment through "topping off" of a seller's pre-paid credit or debit card.
This policy is designed to promote online shopping with online payment methods that are safer, easy to use, reliable, and offer higher levels of protection for users. The policy also attempts to preserve some flexibility for users that still prefer offline payment methods. Buyers love discounts and everybody loves to pay less than it was earlier, so sellers now have the option to add discounts for a selected period of time on any items they sell.
Discounts are visible on the main page, and buyers are able to "Advance Search" to check for all discounted items.
You can access the "Discount" tab from within your Member Area | Selling | Discount tabTo add a discount to your items.
Select the start date and end date and the discount percentage and click on Uppdate.
