HOUDINI, THE ADVENTUROUS LIFE OF A VERSATILE ARTIST.
1924 edition of the pitch book which sold at the theatre’s Houdini was appearing. 64pp. Paperbound. Orange covers with smiling photo of Houdini on cover. Measures 5 1/2"x8".
Again, tons of photos and a wealth of information on Houdini -and- a great companion book to the one listed.
How many of you are aware there was a 1924 PitchBook?
Where’s the difference, well there are two.
This 1924 edition is 1/4" shorter and printed on the back cover is an advertising for Houdini’s book "A Magician Among The Spirits".
The ad reads:
"SPIRITUALISM - A New Book by Houdini (soon on the press) Equally important for the Believer, The Skeptic, and the Open-Minded Seeker after truth. - Write for particulars - HOUDINI, 278 West 113thStreet, New York City".
The ad is actually printed three times in this PitchBook. On page 45, the inside of the back cover and on the back cover. None of these, printed in the earlier 1922 editions.
The front and back covers have a few tears and on the front cover, there’s a white area, as though something was stuck there and when removed, some of the orange color paper came up with it. This white area does NOT affect any of Houdini’s photo or any of the wording. It is solely in the orange background area.
If you don’t have this Very Scarce Edition in your library, you can now.
