HOUDINIs HISTORY OF MAGIC IN BOSTON 1792-1915
Researched and Written for Houdini by H.J. Moulton.
A Facsimile of the Original Manuscript.
Introduction by Milbourne Christopher.
llustrated with Rare Playbills from the Christopher Collection.
Copyright 1983. Published by Meyerbooks. Glenwood, IL. HardBound with 157pages.
This is the work Houdini had commissioned in 1918 from H.J. Moulton.
Moulton had been a veteran researcher at the Boston Public Library.
A fascinating account (and the best one volume source of information) of magicians, ventriloquist, jugglers and other wonder workers appearing in Boston during the years 1792-1915. Moulton would produce and deliver the information to Houdini in sections. Houdini had planned to use the Moulton research in his history of magic, one of the many projects not completed when he died, at the age of 52, in Detroit on October 31, 1926.
Milbourne Christopher obtained the Original 'manuscript sections' from Leo Rullman, who had acquired them from Mrs. Bernard M.L. Ernst (the wife of Houdini's lawyer and good friend).
The scanner lightened up the book a bit - the color is closer to the last photo, showing the close-up of the title.
Small paper loss on the back cover and some tape residue. |

BINDING CONTRACT: By placing a bid on this item you are making a legally binding contract between you and the seller. Once you place a bid on this listing, it may not be retracted. In most states it is illegal to win an auction and not pay for it. In other words, if you don't want to pay for it, don't bid on it! |
 |
|
PROXY BIDDING FOR ALL BIDS: Please bid the maximum amount you are willing to pay for this item. Your maximum amount will be kept secret. Magic Castle Auctions will bid on your behalf as necessary by increasing your bid by the current bid increment up until your maximum is reached. This saves you the trouble of having to keep track of the auction as it proceeds and prevents you from being outbid at the last minute unless your spending limit has been exceeded. If you have bid on this item before your new bid must be greater than your previous bid. |

DETAILS FOR THE SELLER AND THE WINNER:
The sellers contact information and the winners contact information will not be disclosed until the seller has paid any auction fees due.
The seller and the winner should contact each other within three business days to discuss the payment, shipping, and handling details.
The winner must pay the seller directly for the item and the seller must fulfill the winners order when payment terms are met.
Leave feedback for the other party once the seller has received the payment and the winner has received the merchandise.
If the seller is unable to establish contact with the winner within 3 business days of the end of the auction, she/he may lose the place as the winner and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder Alert, both of which can ultimately lead to your accounts suspension and or termination with Magic Castle Auctions. (Note: Once negative feedback is left, it can not, and will not, be removed!)
